How to Rename the FTx Device from IMEI to Vehicle Name
It is very important to rename the device before installation. Rename the device from the IMEI number to the vehicle’s make, model, and other identifiable information (e.g., license plate). This ensures efficient tracking and management of multiple devices, helps avoid confusion, and enhances the accuracy of features such as fuel management and driver behavior monitoring.
Note: After installation of the FTx device, there is an 20% chance that CAN datas may not be available. The customer should check the data in the system and contact the Support Team if data is missing.
To rename the device from the IMEI number to a more meaningful identifier (such as the vehicle’s license plate), follow these steps:
- Go to Settings:
- Log in to your Fleet Complete account.
- Navigate to the Settings section.
- Select Vehicles:
- In the Settings menu, click on Vehicles.
- Choose the Vehicle Displayed with the IMEI Number:
- Locate the vehicle that is currently displayed with its IMEI number.
- Click on Properties:
- Select the vehicle and click on Properties.
- Rename the Device:
- In the Properties section, rename the device to something meaningful, like the vehicle’s license plate or another recognizable identifier.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why is it important to enter the fuel tank volume in the system?
A:Entering the fuel tank volume is crucial for accurate fuel data calculations. This information enables the system to monitor fuel consumption, detect discrepancies, and provide precise fuel management insights.
Q: What happens if I don’t rename the device? A: If the device is not renamed, it will continue to display the IMEI number, which can lead to confusion, especially if multiple devices are being managed.
Q: Can I track my vehicle without entering the vehicle details? A: Yes, tracking will still occur, but features such as fuel management and driver behavior monitoring will be less accurate without the proper vehicle data.
Q: What should I do if I need to transfer the device to a different vehicle? A: Follow the procedures outlined in the next section.

Accessories
If the device obstructs plastic covers to close firmly, mainly because of the OBDII location, you can order an OBD II extension cable.
In case of using the extension cable it is recommended to place the device in a location where there are no any moving parts of the vehicle or any metal above the device. Direction of the LEDs is pointing towards the interior of the vehicle and not to the engine compartment.
