FTi Installation guide for light vehicles
This guide is intended as a quick instruction set for the FTi device
Please be advised that there is NO NEED for installers to alter configuration settings of FTi devices.
Only thing required is to start engine and check Ignition ON and Ignition OFF
Please be advised that installation should take place while vehicle IGNITION is switched OFF

Before you start
READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE PROCEEDING TO ANY INSTALLATION
Install devices away from points of high moisture levels (e.g., under seats, floors, etc.) or points which are exposed to sunlight or high temperatures.
FTi devices packaging contains the relevant wiring that you will need for installation of the FTi telematic devices in vehicles.
There are two acceptable methods of making a wire connection. You can solder the Constant Power and Ground cables to the vehicles power wires. Or you can crimp connectors with the use of the proper crimping tool.
Never use «t-tap» type connectors (poor quality mechanical type connection).
Never “twist and tape” without soldering your connection. Never connect cables directly to the fuse box.
Use a high-quality electrical tape or heat shrinkable insulation. A poor-quality tape will loosen if it is hot and will not provide adequate insulation.
Insulate the wires not used during installation. If the insulation is not appropriate, false alarms and increased consumption on vehicle’s battery may occur.
FTi devices are connected directly to the 12V/24V over the OBD port of the vehicle. There is no activation – on/off, switch on the devices. Devices operate 24 hours a day.
The GPS/RF Combo antenna must be mounted flat with the GPS Receiver facing up (The writing - POSITION UPWARDS- is facing up). The ideal location is on the roof; however, the antenna can be installed under/top of the dashboard or on the window. If the vehicle window has a solid dark coating around the edge, do not place the GPS antenna behind the coating. The GPS signals will travel through the clear glass but will be reduced if the window has any metallic coating or tint applied.
The GPS/RF Combo antenna will work best if it has a clear view to the sky and as much of the horizon as possible. Any metallic objects between the antenna and the GPS satellites will degrade the signal and reduce the overall performance.
Confirm proper operation by connecting the antenna connections to appropriate connectors, use the thread-locking fluid to avoid tampering on antenna connectors and fuse holders for Red (main power) and Yellow/Green (ignition power) wires.

When installation is complete, installation verification must take place in the installer portal.
1. Login using your personal PIN code: 2. Enter device IMEI (can be found on device box and on the device itself)
3. Validate incoming data from the device:
- Data should be refreshing live
- Ignition should be switching
- GPS signal should be OK
- Validate RFID sign-in and sign-out, RFID card ID should be displayed in the installer portal as last driver (Optional)
- Validate immobilizer, vehicle should not start when signed-out (RFID reader greed LED OFF) (Opional)
4. Generate installation report and fill in all installation details:
- Vehicle plate number should be entered in capital letters and digits
- Brief description of where the unit is installed, connected wire colours etc.
- Enter all required fields about the vehicle.
