This page will describe step-by-step instructions for choosing a light vehicle connection method for the Ruptela FTE or FTE Lite device.
For Light Vehicle installation at the moment, we use two cable options:
- Wire Harness FTe OBD Y (104795) + Ignition add-on (105405)
- Wire Harness FTe Hardwire (104830) + CANbus contactless reader (100060)
Wire Harness FTe OBD Y (104795) connects directly to the OBD2 port and its main purpose is to receive OBD CAN parameters.
Wire Harness FTe Hardwire (104830) connects directly to CANbus wires using EasyCAN contactless reader (100060)and its main purpose is to receive CANbus parameters.
To select a connection method, you need to follow the step-by-step instructions that will be described below:
- All diagrams for passenger cars can be found at the link: https://vehicles.ruptela.com/light-vehicles
- Enter the make and model of the vehicle you are looking for.
- In this step we will look at four different connection types.
Volkswagen Golf (2019+, 8 gen, typ CD1) As a priority, we always go to the left column. It shows the parameters that we can get using Wire Harness FTe OBD Y (104795). In this case, we see that VIN code, RPM, Fuel level input, %, Odometer, km, Engine coolant temperature, °C are marked as available. In this case, we order Wire Harness FTe OBD Y (104795)
Citroen Jumper (2006-2014, 3 gen) This vehicle receives CAN data’s only via an LCV connection. In this Case we need to order Wire Harness FTe Hardwire (104830) + CANbus contactless reader (100060)
IMPORTANT: “If the available parameters are marked in two colors - green and blue, then we need to order Wire Harness FTe Hardwire (104830) + 2x CANbus contactless reader (100060)”
Cupra Born (2021+, -)
Always be careful with electric vehicles. In this case, we see that through the OBD connection we will only seeVIN code, Type of Fuel, Time since engine start, Distance traveled with CheckEngine and Ambient air temperature.
In order to obtain information about mileage, EV distance until recharge, EV State of charge % and battery charging state, you need to connect Wire Harness FTe Hardwire (104830) + 1x CANbus contactless reader (100060).
As mentioned earlier, for this machine we use one contactless reader since all parameters are displayed in green color.
