FCPlus now has a feature where tasks can be ‘grouped’ by merging multiple tasks under ‘parent’ umbrella task.
For example: If customer has multiple delivery tasks to the same place. Instead of having driver deliver and then close tasks one by one, customer can untie all tasks under one parent task – as all have same address – and once delivery is made, driver marks inly one – parent task – as ‘done’ and this automatically closes all sub-tasks as well. This can save a lot of time and frustration from having to close multiple tasks one by one.
Prerequisite for using the feature – customer must have task type configured on the account where ‘has subtasks’ option is enabled, this will allow to unify tasks under ‘parent’.
The workflow:
1. Multiple tasks are received (via API, task import, manually created etc) 2. It is determined tasks can be completed in one-go 3. Create one ‘parent’ task (with type that has subtasks) 4. Once created, copy parent task ID
5. Select all tasks that should be merged under parent, right click and select ‘Move under parent task‘
6. Paste parent task ID and click ‘Move’
7. Confirm the move
- Success
Once successfully moved task(s) is converted to sub-task. If options is enabled under parent task type to COMPLETE PARENT TASK COMPLETES SUBTASKS, all related subtasks will be automatically closed once parent task is complete.
9. Failure (if incorrect task ID is provided or account is missing required configuration)
Please note:
- tasks can be moved under parent even if task is assigned to different driver than parent task. Once moved, task will be reassigned to same driver who owns parent task.
- Once merged under parent, tasks CANNOT BE unmerged. Please verify that correct tasks are being moved before confirming the move.
